CWEDG NOTICE - Dr Peter Williams - Supergene Geochemistry of Base Metal Orebodies The Australian Geodynamics Cooperative Research Centre
(AGCRC), Geological Survey of New South Wales (GSNSW), Australian Geological
Survey Organisation (AGSO) and Fractal Graphics will hold a 3 day workshop in Orange to
present results of their recent work in the Eastern Lachlan Orogen. Programme, Registration and Contacts
March 7-8, Field trip on the 9th.
The core of the workshop
will be a discussion of the results of the deep seismic reflection and
refraction data, collected in 1997 and 1999, designed to shed light on crustal
architecture of different belts of Ordovician volcanics, volcaniclastics and
intrusives that form part of the Macquarie Arc. This arc was disrupted during
Silurian and Devonian extension and by later contraction. The work was also
designed to contribute to the understanding of the geodynamic setting of some
Lachlan Orogen mineral systems. North-south and east-west seismic data were
acquired across the Molong volcanic belt north and south of Orange; and
east-west lines were acquired across the Junee-Narromine volcanic belt south of
Lake Cowal, and several kilometres north of the Gidginbung deposit. CWEDG - Central West Exploration Discussion Group PROGRAM
