Professor John C. Ferm is the Director of Graduate Research at the University of Kentucky. He is widely known for his pioneering efforts in applying detailed sedimentological/palaeoenvironmental principles to coal basin studies. His work has revolutionised the U.S. coal exploration industry. Professor Ferm is in Australia as the 1981 Distinguished Lecturer at the Earth Resources Foundation.
