CSIRO is examining the possibility of expanding its investment in the mineral
industry through a major new initiative called Minerals Down Under. Its objective
would be to provide the technology to enable the industry to add a trillion dollars to
the value of Australia's mineral endowment by the discovery of new deposits and
the conversion of currently uneconomic resources to reserves by improved mining
and processing technologies. This talk will review the proposed research and the
major collaborative activities that will be an important part of MDU.
Andy Green worked for CSIRO for many years developing Remote Sensing, Image
Processing and Airborne Geophysical technologies. He currently is an independent
consultant and is assisting CSIRO in the preparation of the Business Plan for MDU.
