TOPIC: "Kempfield Silver-Barite VHMS Project"
Kempfield, located 60 km southwest of Bathurst, NSW, hosts a Late Silurian barite rich "Kuroko-style" VHMS system. The most recently published resource identified 5.3 million tonnes at 105g/t silver and 24% barite.
The 3 km long system has been systematically explored by a number of companies over the last 28 years. The geological understanding and potential of this zoned system has continuously increased over this time. Golden Cross Operations acquired a 100% interest in the project in February 1998, and has since expanded the oxide and sulphide silver resource. Recent drilling has identified significant zinc-lead intersections in addition to those of silver.
Gordon McLean studied geology in New Zealand, working in the Coromandel
Peninsula exploring epithermal deposits before moving to the Mt.Isa area
eight years ago with Cyprus Gold. He has worked in Victoria in mesothermal
gold exploration and for the past two and a half years has been with Golden
Cross Operations as a Senior Geologist.
