DMR Maitland Move Update

This is to update you on the status of our lobbying to prevent the move of the DMR to Maitland.
This morning Garry Lowder joined me at a meeting with our local State MP (Barry O'Farrell) at which we presented Barry with the petition of mining industry signatories (total of 108 signatures, representing around 50 companies and groups). Barry will table the petition when Parliament resumes on 26 February. He was very sympathetic to our concerns and recognised the negative consequences of the move.
Barry is setting up a meeting for us with Duncan Gay (Opposition Spokesman on Resources), so that we can fully brief him on the issues to enable the Liberal Party to develop a well thought-out policy and strategy opposing the move. This will then empower them to put pressure on the government in the Parliament to reverse the decision.
