TOPIC:
“Geochemical
Exploration around the CSA mine, Cobar NSW”
In the past, ‘exploration’ and ‘CSA’ have
been two terms that are not generally used in the same sentence. Things have changed! In 2004 the surface exploration budget was $1
million. More importantly the budget was approved in 2003 when the Cu price was
80c/lb, reflecting current managements firm commitment to exploration.
Exploration at and around the mine is now a major and ongoing process.
This talk will describe some of the
regolith/geochemical aspects of exploration on CSA leases and Near Mine
Exploration in detail. This is an
update of the talk given at the CRC-LEME / SMEDG Cobar conference in May 04.
Ian obtained His B.Appl.Sc. from Canberra
University in 1989. He worked for CRAE for a year and MIM for five years in
NSW, Queensland and Indonesia. He then worked for Aurora in Indonesia followed by a couple of years contracting.
Since
2001 he has worked at the CSA mine, first as Underground Geologist and now as Senior
Exploration Geologist.
