DATE: Thursday 27th April 2000 - 5.30pm for 6pm
VENUE: 1st Floor, Rugby Club, Rugby (Crane) Place, Sydney
SPEAKER: Michael Diemar - Kingsgate Consolidated N.L.
TOPIC: "Chatree
Gold Deposit; Thailand"
The talk on Kingsgate’s Chatree gold project in Thailand will trace the exploration history
of the project from grassroots reconnaissance programs commencing in
1987 to the discovery and definition period and to its current status
of final feasibility. The discovery and definition of the deposits
resulted from the efforts of a small and dedicated team over a long
period of time backed by shareholders with unreasonable faith. Total
official resources to date are 14.6 million tonnes at 2.7 g/t Au and
12 g/t Ag for 1.2 million ounces of gold. The project will be
constructed this year with production commencing in 2001 at about
140,000 ounces of gold per year. Gold occurs in an adularia-sericite
epithermal system within quartz-calcite adularia veins, breccias and
stockworks in a host intermediate volcanic arc sequence of Triassic
age.
Mike has been an exploration geologist for over 30 years with
experience initially in coal then hard rock with BHP in Australia.
From the mid 70’s he concentrated on gold exploration and since the
mid 80’s with small companies progressing to his current position of
Managing Director. In this capacity he has guided and in many cases
carried out the work and the development of the company to bring it
to its current position of successful junior explorer and developer
with particular expertise in South East Asia.
