This year the Sydney mining community again celebrates St Barbara’s Day at the Malaya Restaurant, 86 Walker Street, North Sydney. If you wish to join in please email Rob Waring or just take a chance, come along and join one of the other friendly tables.
St Barbara’s Day is an annual celebration held by Sydney’s mining resources industry to commemorate St Barbara, the Patron Saint of Miners.
The event comprises superb Malaysia or Chinese style lunch and the chance to gather in the one location and discuss and celebrate the achievements of the past year and we approach the Christmas season and as we make our final preparations for the SMEDG sail.
We look forward to seeing you at this year’s event. Cost, depending on your enthusiasm, will be $35 – $45.

POSTSCRIPT – MATCH REPORT: The event went very well with about 30 assorted mining industry blokes (the glaring shortcoming) enjoying the food, wine and company. A hard-core group batted on at the Greenwood until very late demonstrating heroic drinking skills that outclassed the suited yuppies around them. Well done lads!
