NSW Mineral Exploration & Investment 2001 Conference

17-18 May, 2001 – Hilton Hotel, Sydney, Australia.

 

This two-day conference is a major event for the Australian minerals industry and is strongly supported by the New South Wales Government. The last two conferences have been very successful, each attracting over 250 senior industry delegates from the minerals and investment sectors.

The conference aims to stimulate investment interest in the major facets of the NSW minerals industry – mineral and petroleum exploration, mining and value-added minerals processing.

The theme of Day 1 of the conference will be “Exploring and Investing in NSW”.  The theme of Day 2 will be “Projects and Opportunities in NSW”.  Registration for the conference will be available for single (A$325 inc GST) or both days (A$545 inc GST). The conference will also feature an adjacent “NSW Mineral Industry Exhibition”.

Keynote Addresses by prominent industry executives will be featured on both days of the conference. The conference is planned to be opened by the Premier of NSW, Mr Bob Carr and the Minister for Mineral Resources, Mr Eddie Obeid plans to give the Welcome to Day 2 Address.

Day 1 will feature:

* The latest information on the NSW Government’s new “Exploration New South Wales: Mining Beyond 2000” program. This initiative, which involves a funding commitment of A$30 million over seven years, succeeds the highly successful Discovery 2000 program.

* Keynote Address by Mr Russell Barwick, Managing Director & CEO, Newcrest Mining Limited on Experiences in and the Future of the NSW minerals industry.

* Presentation by Professor Ian Plimer on the mineral potential of Broken Hill.

* Special session focussing on the world class Murray Basin mineral sands province.

* Exploration updates by industry speakers on a number of gold, copper, diamond and base metal prospects in New South Wales.

 

Day 2 will feature presentations on:

            * Financing alternatives for new mineral projects in NSW

            * Keynote Address by Dr Ian Gould, Director & Deputy Chairman, Western Metals on Investing in Australian mineral development beyond 2001.

            * Outlook for coal and gas in NSW.

            * The partnership between the electricity and minerals industries in NSW.

            * Updates on a range of mineral development and value-added minerals processing projects, including Syerston nickel-cobalt, Young nickel-cobalt, Cobar gold and base metals, Ridgeway gold-copper, Tritton copper, Dubbo zirconia, Woodsreef magnesium, Lithgow silicon, and Ardlethan tin.
