Good afternoon, I draw your attention to the following important information in relation to the Northern Territory's prospectivity for U-Au-PGE deposits. RECENT GEOSCIENTIFIC PRODUCT RELEASES: NT Geological Survey Report 20. Lally JH and Bajwah ZU, 2006. Uranium deposits of the NT (SEP 06) Official launch by new NT Minister for Mines & Energy Chris Natt at Mining 2006, Brisbane, 2 November 2006 Place an order for this CD publication with geoscience.info@nt.gov.au MINING 2006 RESOURCES CONVENTION: Mining 2006 Resources Convention. 1-3 November 2006, Hilton, Brisbane, QLD (http://www.verticalevents.com.au/mining2006) Minister Chris Natt is making a presentation "Energy opportunities and developments in the NT" on the morning of Thursday 2 November and will officially launch the new "Uranium Deposits of the NT" report (see above). CORONATION HILL U-Au-PGE DEPOSIT REPORTS AND DRILL CORE: All Coronation Hill reports and data have now been open-filed and scanned and are available on request from the Minerals and Energy Information Centre and can be identified through IRMS (apps.minerals.nt.gov.au/irmsmin). The drill core (>7600 m) is also available for viewing at the Darwin Core Facility. NTGS has arranged a subset of core (CHDDH 029, 072 and 076; 98 trays) to be on display until the end of November. For more information on the core to be displayed contact the Minerals & Energy Information Centre (08 8999 6443 or e-mail us at geoscience.info@nt.gov.au) and ask for the drilling plan and logs. I also wish to alert you to the new "NTGS Update" email service. The 13 October release is reproduced below. For directions on how to subscribe to this quarterly service, navigate to the bottom of this email. AUSTRALIAN EARTH SCIENCES CONVENTION 2006 Several NTGS staff presented at the Australian Earth Sciences Convention in Melbourne in 20th to 22nd June 2006. Roger Clifton, NTGS Geophysicist, won a Best Paper Presentation award for "Visualising Magnetic Depths". TIWI ISLANDS AIRBORNE MAGNETIC AND RADIOMETRIC SURVEY 2006 NTGS commenced flying an airborne magnetic and radiometric survey over the Tiwi Islands on Friday 6th October. For more information visit: www.minerals.nt.gov.au/ntgs and choose the survey under "Current and planned geophysical surveys". NEW NTGS WEBSITE On 30th September the new NTGS website was launched. The URL remains the same (www.minerals.nt.gov.au/ntgs) but the website has been migrated to the standard NT Government branding and design. Website content will be undergoing a major review in the next couple of months as few changes were undertaken during the migration. Please take advantage of the feedback link on the bottom right of every web page to provide us your comments. GEOPHYSICAL ARCHIVE DATA DELIVERY SYSTEM (GADDS) GADDS provides magnetic, radiometric, gravity and digital elevation data from Australian National, State and Territory Governments via a spatial search interface. All Northern Territory geophysical datasets have been edited and cleansed to the highest standards and the gridded and line (located) data are now available for download through GADDS. At the same time the metadata has been standardised and refined to the point where it can be automatically read by all conforming software. To access the system navigate to the Australian government's geoscience portal at www.geoscience.gov.au and choosing one of the profiles, click on the geophysics link. Otherwise navigate directly to www.geoscience.gov.au/gadds. If you want to see the latest stitches of NT wide geophysical data, navigate to: the Geophysical Image Web Server at apps.minerals.nt.gov.au/iws or STRIKE at: apps.minerals.nt.gov.au/STRIKE. Many of the NT wide images were updated in June 2006. DID YOU KNOW? All NTGS products and publications, including the GA maps and explanatory notes (1:100k and 1:250k only) of the Northern Territory, are distributed free of charge.
