TOPIC: “Lihir Gold Project” The Ladolam deposit on Lihir Island was discovered in 1982, and is the world’s largest undeveloped gold reource. An extensive exploration programme commenced in 1983 and in March 1992 a feasibility report and proposal for development were submitted to the Papua New Guinea Government. The resource was outlined and a development plan was produced (including engineering amd feasibility studies) at a cost of US$120M. In his presentation Hugo will outline the proposed development plan for the project which will be implemented upon receipt of the Special Mining Lease from the Papua New Guinea Government.
