SMEDG – PREVIOUS MEETING

DATE: Thursday 14 November 1991 at 5.15pm

VENUE: 1st Floor, Rugby Club, Crane Place, Sydney

SPEAKER: Tony Morgan (RGC Exploration)

TOPIC: “Changing Perceptions at the Enterprise Gold Mine, Pine Creek, NT.”

The Enterprise deposit is a quartz-sulphide “saddle-reef” style vein system hosted by Lower Proterozoic turbidites. The gold distribution is very heterogeneous and mineralisation postdates regional cleavage and granite intrusion, being related to shear zones characterised by retrograde chlorite alteration. Tony’s talk will discuss the evolution of geological and operational aspects of the mine from exploration in the early 1980’s to the present.
