TOPIC: “Ore Forming Processes in Geologic History”Dr Charles Meyer is Emeritus Professor of Geology at the University of California, Berkeley and for many years has been a consultant geologist to the Anaconda Company.His principal research interests are igneous related copper deposits, especially wall rock alteration and mineral zoning in porphyry coppers in North and South America. Together with R. Sales he is joint author of a classic paper on wall rock alteration at Butte, Montana.His other research interests relate to tectonic and chemical evolution of the earth and the controls on ore-depositing processes through geologic history.As the 1982 Society of Economic Geologists Distinguished Lecturer, Dr Meyer will be presenting lectures in Japan, Australia, South Africa and Chile.
