SMEDG GeoMatch supports connection and collaboration between students, industry and academia as well as encouraging students to take up an Honours projects in economic geology at no cost to participants. Companies are encouraged to promote economic geology projects, preferably in NSW, to potential Honours students and University supervisors, as well as vacation work.

Expressions of Interest are now open – Companies or universities with potential student projects or vacation work in NSW need to complete the EOI to be included in this SMEDG GeoMatch webpage. The monthly SMEDG Technical Meeting on 24 September 2026 officially launches SMEDG GeoMatch featuring short ‘pitch’ presentations from companies and academics as well as a Q&A session for students, with all welcome to attend.

SKY Metals Ltd (ASX: SKY) is an Australian resources company focused on discovering and developing tin deposits in central-west New South Wales. Its flagship Tallebung tin-tungsten-silver Project, near Condobolin, hosts a large and strategic tin-tungsten-silver resource, while the Doradilla Tin Project, near Bourke, has the potential to become a large-scale tin development. Potential honours projects

Collaborative honours projects with SKY will investigate two of Australia’s significant emerging deposits. At the Tallebung Project, SKY is interested in examination of the geological, geochemical and structural controls on mineralisation to develop vectors towards higher-grade tin, silver and tungsten zones and improve understanding of the larger mineralising system. At the Doradilla Tin Project, the focus will be on understanding the origin and evolution of an exceptinally large metals system, including the role of magmatic sources, fluid pathways and mineralising events. Both projects will study drill core, petrography, geochemistry as well as other datasets to generate new insights into the deposits and support future exploration and resource development across both projects.
